We have been implementing the principles of the inspiration network and the Fractopus protocol into a product called Copus—where this article is published.

There are three main components on this article page:

  1. The "Inspiration sources". The author of this piece (In this case, me.) addresses the percentages beside them. They represent the amount of influence each of these pieces has on this piece.
  2. The content's body.
  3. The "Inspiration branches". These pieces addressed this piece as its "Inspiration source", therefore, are gaining exposure from this piece. (They are seen when this piece is seen.) By default, the branches are ranked by the amount of revenue they have streamed to this piece. As the author of this piece, I can also feature the branches I appreciate or take down the ones I dislike.

Copus is a browser of all the content published in the format of the Fractopus protocol. Some content showcased on Copus is published through Copus (like this piece), the others are to be connected from outside with the Copus browser extension or SDK. The browser extension and SDK will enable content published on any URI (URL) (i.e. a YouTube video, a tweet, a medium article) to address other URIs (URLs) as its sources.

A content creator can address and adjust their pieces' "Inspiration sources" and percentages in the editing window. Inspirations outside of Copus can be addressed by inputting its URI (URL). Copus browser extension will enable a branches section on the source's page. So if you address a page as your inspiration, anyone who goes to that page will see your piece in the branches section as long as they installed the browser extension. This enables viewers to see an extra layer of content with the browser extension installed.
